Technology adoption in markets with network effects: Theory and experimental evidence
نویسندگان
چکیده
We examine a technology adoption game with network e¤ects in which coordination on technology A and technology B constitute a Nash equilibrium. Coordination on technology B is assumed to be payo¤-dominant. We de ne a technologys critical mass as the minimum share of users necessary to make the choice of this technology a best response for any remaining user. We show that the technology with a lower critical mass is risk-dominant and is chosen by the maximin criterion. We present experimental evidence that both payo¤ dominance and risk dominance explain participantschoices. The relative riskiness of a technology can be proxied using technologiescritical masses or stand-alone values. This is a substantially revised and re-titled version of our paper Technology Adoption in Critical Mass Games: Theory and Experimental Evidence(DIW DP No. 961). An analysis of factors affecting on customers’ adoption of internet-banking services using the graph theory
The rapid development of Internet and electronic businesses have stimulated the banking sector towards encouraging customers to internet banking (IB), However, the evidence indicates a lack of interest in the use of IB services. Therefore, this paper aims to identify affecting factors on customer adoption from IB and measure the influence of each factor on IB adoption. Based on an explorative l...
متن کاملThe effects of privacy concerns and personal innovativeness on potential and experienced customers' adoption of location-based services
Location-Based Services (LBS) use positioning technology to provide individual users the capability of being constantly reachable and accessing network services while ‘on the move’. However, privacy concerns associated with the use of LBS may ultimately prevent consumers from gaining the convenience of ‘anytime anywhere’ personalized services. We examine the adoption of this emerging technology...

The main purpose of present study is to analyze the relationship between stock and exchange markets in two Asian countries, Iran and South Korea. A monthly time series of stock price and exchange rate are used over the period 2002: 05 - 2012: 03. The data is collected from the Central Bank of each country and WDI. The calculated stock return and real exchange rate change are used in analysis....
متن کاملTwo-tier Supplier Base Efficiency Evaluation Via Network DEA: A Game Theory Approach
In today's competitive markets, firms try to reduce their supply cost by selecting efficient suppliers using different techniques. Several methods can be applied to evaluate the efficiency of supplier base. This paper develops generalized network data envelopment analysis models to examine the efficiency of two-tier supplier bases under cooperative and non-cooperative strategies where each tier...
متن کاملA Rational Expectations Theory of Technology Adoption: Evidence from the Electronic Billing Industry
In this paper, we draw on concepts from the rational expectations hypothesis (REH) and adaptive learning theory to introduce a new rational expectations theory of technology adoption. Although the REH and adaptive learning theory have been applied in many non-technology contexts, this research is among the first that applies rational expectations and adaptive learning theory to issues related t...
